Purse- Jeans back at school

"Warsaw is sewing" competition inspired me to make a new purse perfectly suited to my needs. One which would have enough space for A4 size notebooks and all other women's necessary items. Till now, my purse has always been such a mess… probably like all women's purses. That is why, I decided to first of all think over how many pockets and what for I needed and next planned where each of them would be located. The inside pockets were sewed with flashy orange fabric so that they are quite visible. Also, I finished each of them differently, thus there is no way to mix them up.

Recently, I have read in women's magazines that jeans is the colour of the year?! Any ways, it is still my favourite fabric mainly because it is easily accessible and has variety of different colours. I decided to put the purse in sober orange so that it matches nicely with the seams.
The whole purse was made up of secondary fabrics.

I fully support recycling competition. Hopefully, there will be more of them!

Owl-shaped bed organizer

From the series: ‘’Waiting for…’’

Owl-shaped bed organizer was finished less than 2 days before my son Peter was born. This work was the penultimate thing I did before having a baby.

This is how the head of the owl was being created. In the meantime, owl’s eyes turned out to be an extra pocket for baby dummies.

On each of the pockets I put tiny hearts (left from heart chain)

This is the final look of the OWL hung on baby’s bed.

Patchwork mug rug for my mother

Showering gifts on somebody gives you the greatest joy

Having chosen technique I want to use, I would always struggle with selection of colors. As far as the most of my works are maintained in calm and decided colors, sewing this mug rug I decided to use the most colorful fabrics I had.

The next stage: choosing pattern.

As the final result came, the elements of blue and yellow can barely be seen, however, the mug rug is still quite colorful. I achieved the goal. At least, I think I did. Now I wonder what my mother will say…

Embroidery mathematical- Stitching

As I have a sister who is mathematician, it did not take so long to convince me to try out a new technique called embroidery mathematical.

There’re lots of templates on the Internet… I found one that I liked and copied it onto a paper.
Having very little knowledge about it, I deduced that digits 1-6 mean that:

thread from hole 1 should go into 6,

thread from hole 7 should go into 2,

thread from hole 3 should go into 8 and etc.

While playing with this technique I observed that depending on the order of thread drag, different pictures can be created. Below I put exemplary photos of two different cards that were made for Mother’s Day so that you can notice the difference I mentioned.

I would strongly recommend this technique because it does not require anything else than everybody has got at home. All you need is some thread or embroidery floss, cordon, needle and piece of paper.

In order to make the card firmer, I set it into frame of two cut cardboard for binding and stuck it together with glue gun.
This is the final look of the card I gave to my mother on Mother’s Day.

Card for Nicolas

This card, or some may say picture, can be given to somebody on a special day with some handwritten greetings on the backside. If you want to adorn your child’s room in a simple way, just hang a handmade card like this on the wall using short string.
Should you add a frame to your picture, I would rather suggest using either rarer stitch zigzag (inner side of the card) or straight stitch. Perforation which
you can see in the lower right corner was made just after some time. I think that the reason for it was two thick fabrics overlapping. Luckily, glue gun managed to fix it all.

Veiltail brooch

How does it happen that you cut, choose and match some felt, fabric and seed beads with sequin that finally form into something that… you like? And moreover eventually it turns out to be a tiny fish- an iridescent veiltail.
